The Good:

Funny as hell, nice ripping on comics and comic writers, and it provides a social commentary on the process as well as expectation of readers. Also, raunchy.

The Bad:

Not really a story line, per se, and with that lack of story I felt like it wasn't worth the moolah.

The Breakdown:

Folks, this comic was funny. It had very nice artwork and coloring and a whole lot of other fine points. However, it lacked story. Folks, this comic was funny. It had very nice artwork and coloring and a whole lot of other fine points. However, it lacked story. This issue is a stance on the expectation of readers versus what writers want to churn out and, perhaps, how comic books should be instead of how they are. The first page, basically, comes out and says that this issue isn’t the typical issue of The Goon that people may be used to reading. All of this is fine and good, but don’t charge me for you to take a stand or make some sort of statement involving comic book politics. $3.50 for an issue that didn’t have me ready and waiting for another issue is sort of a problem for me.

Now that I got all of that out of the way, let me hit what I liked. This issue was very funny. I loved the hyperbole involved and shit that was said that made you say “What the fuck?!”. I mean, this comic really is pretty spot on as far as how other comics tend to operate, but it does what it does in a very self-aware way. This is definitely good for a laugh but, $3.50? I’d say go spend that shit on something like American Vampire!

BEARZOMBIES

BEARZOMBIES loves horror movies, dark comics and longs walks on post apocalyptic beaches. Born in a makeshift graveyard after the epic battle of Deth KilPunch he rose to feast on the brains of those unworthy of life (everybody not BEARZOMBIES). Soon he crossed paths with Reverend Grimes and after many long talks decided he alone was somebody worth sparing. Together they formed Random Bits of Geek to make sure that, perhaps, someday the Earth would be populated with minds altered to a state of uniform awesomeness and be spared his terrible wrath.
